MICICE-Muestra Internacional de Cine Cerámico- tendrá lugar en el Auditorio-Palacio de Congresos de Castellón (España) del 23 al 26 de junio de 2011
CERÁMICA Y CINE UNIDOS POR PRIMERA VEZ EN ESPAÑA
El primer festival dedicado exclusivamente a la cerámica se ha presentado hoy en Castellón. MICICE son las siglas de la Muestra Internacional de Cine Cerámico cuya primera edición tendrá lugar del 23 al 26 de junio en el Auditorio-Palacio de Congresos de Castellón. En este sentido, la directora del festival, Paloma Mora, ha señalado que el objetivo de este proyecto, pionero en España, es “promocionar la cerámica a través del cine. Existen otros antecedentes en el mundo de festivales relacionados con la cerámica como el FIFAV (Festival International du film sur l’argile et le verre) de Montpelier (Francia) y la Word Ceramic Biennale Korea”.
La muestra, organizada por la productora valenciana TV ON Producciones, cuenta con el apoyo de la Conselleria de Cultura y Deporte, Castelló Cultural, Auditori-Palau de Congressos de Castelló, IVAC (Institut Valencià de l’Audiovisual y Cinematografia Ricardo Muñoz Suay), Ciudad de la Luz, Ayuntamiento de Castellón, Instituto de Promoción Cerámica y la colaboración de la Asociación Cultural Grao, Escuela de Cerámica de Manises, Universitat Jaume I, entre otros. Cabe destacar que el equipo de MICICE está formado por profesionales del sector audiovisual y de la cerámica.
El festival cuenta con la participación de 30 películas de diferentes duraciones y géneros (animación, documental, experimental…) de 12 nacionalidades distintas (España, Israel, China, Bélgica, Francia, Alemania, Portugal, Reino Unido, Suiza, Croacia, Francia y Brasil). “Todas las películas –apunta Mora- tienen relación con la cerámica desde distintos puntos de vista: arte, creatividad, tradiciones, tecnología, cultura… en definitiva la cerámica como forma de entender la vida”. La directora de la Muestra quiere resaltar que “se trata de un festival dirigido a todas las audiencias. Además de ceramistas, artistas, cinéfilos, empresarios, arquitectos y diseñadores, la muestra va dirigida al todo el público, ya que las películas que mostraremos son de interés general”.
Cabe destacar que MICICE, en esta primera edición, cuenta con la participación de las películas “Mar de Fang”, un film que muestra el proceso creativo del mural cerámico que Miquel Barceló creó para la Capilla del Santísimo de la Catedral de Palma de Mallorca, o “Magos de la Tierra”, dirigida por Fernando Trueba.
El festival se inaugurará la noche de San Juan con el reconocimiento a la trayectoria profesional del artista Arcadio Blasco Asimismo, durante los cuatro días que dura la muestra, los amantes del cine, la cerámica o la música podrán disfrutar de todo tipo de actividades paralelas. Entre ellas, la exposición “Geografías Cerámicas”, en la que participan los 25 ceramistas más relevantes de la Comunidad Valenciana; la actuación musical del valenciano J.S.Xapi con su espectáculo “Tinajas”, la visita a los museos de Bellas Artes de Castellón y el Museo de L’Alcora. Además, el artista y director de cine chino Lu Bin impartirá una master class. Por último, los amantes del cine y la cerámica, tendrán la ocasión de asistir a una mesa redonda donde se debatirá el “presente y futuro de la cerámica”. A esta mesa redonda asistirán ceramistas, directores de museos, cineastas y profesionales de ambos ámbitos.
El jurado de esta primera muestra está formado por Antonio Llorens, crítico cinematográfico; la ceramista Núria Pié; Antonio Vivas, director revista Cerámica; André Bennett, distribuidor de cine y Eladi Grangel, director del Museo de Céramica de L´Alcora (Castellón).
Respecto a los premios el primero constará de una dotación económica de 2.000 euros, el segundo de 1.000 euros, el Premio del Público será de 1.500 euros y una mención especial.
MICICE está dirigido a todos los públicos y cualquiera que lo desee podrá descargarse diariamente una entrada gratuita en la página web del festival, a partir del 1 de junio.

CERAMICS AND CINEMA UNITED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SPAIN
The first festival dedicated exclusively to ceramics was presented today in Castellón. MICICE stands for Muestra Internacional de Cine Cerámico (International Ceramics Film Festival) whose first edition will take place from 23 to 26 of June in the Exhibition Hall of the Auditorium of Castellón. In this sense, the director of the festival, Paloma Mora, has pointed out that the objective of this pioneering project in Spain, is “to promote ceramics through cinema. There are other precedents in the festival world of ceramics such as the French FIFAV (Montpellier’s International Clay and Glass Film Festival) and the World Ceramic Biennale Korea”.
The festival, organized by the Valencian producer TV ON Producciones, counts with the support of the Regional Ministry of Culture and Sports, Cultural Castellón, Exhibition Hall of the Auditorium of Castellón, IVAC (The Valencian Institute of Cinematography Ricardo Muñoz Suay), the City of light, Castellón's city council, the Ceramics Promotion Institute and the collaboration with Cultural Association Grao, Manises School of Ceramics, Jaume the First University, among others. It's worth mentioning that the MICICE team consists of professionals from the audiovisual and ceramic sector.
The festival includes 30 films of various durations and genres (animation, documentary, experimental…) and 12 distinct nationalities are respresented (Spain, Israel, China, Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Croatia, France and Brazil). “All the films –says Mora- are related with the world of ceramics seen through different angles: art, creativity, traditions, technology, culture… ultimately, ceramics as a way of understanding life”. The director of the festival wants to emphasize that “it is a festival aimed at all audiences. Besides ceramicists, artists, movie buffs, businessmen, architects and designers, the festival is intended for everyone, since the films on display are of general interest”.
It's worth mentioning, that in this first edition, MICICE counts with the contribution of the films “Mar de Fang”, a film that uncovers the creative process of the ceramic mural created by Miquel Barceló for the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of the Cathedral of Palma of Mallorca, or “Magos de la Tierra”, directed by Fernando Trueba.
The festival opening will take place during the night of San Juan with the acknowledgement of Arcadio Blasco's career. Additionally, during the festival's four days duration, film, ceramic or music lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy all kind of parallel activities. Among them, the “Geografías Cerámicas” exhibition, involving 25 of the most relevant ceramicists of the Valencian Community; the concert of the Valencian artist J.S.Xapi with his musical show “Tinajas”, the visit to the museum of fine arts of Castellón and the Museum of L’Alcora. In addition, the artist and Chinese film director Lu Bin will impart a master class. Finally, cinema and ceramic enthusiasts will have the possibility to attend a roundtable where the “present and future of ceramics” will be discussed. The roundtable shall be attended by ceramic artists, museum directors, film directors and professionals from both fields.
The jury of this first festival will be composed by Antonio Llorens, film critic; the ceramic artist Núria Pié; Antonio Vivas, director of the magazine Cerámica; André Bennett, film distributor y Eladi Grangel, director of the Ceramics Museum of L´Alcora (Castellón).
With respect to awards, the first prize consists of an endowment grant (2.000 euros), a second prize (1.000 euros), and the Audience Award (1.500 euros) includes a special mention.
MICICE is aimed at all publics and anyone who wants to will be able to download daily a free entry on the festival's website, starting June 1st.
